Hey everyone! I recently got to listen to an awesome interview with Luc Julia on the Tech Team podcast. He’s a big deal in the world of artificial intelligence (AI), and he shared some really cool stuff about AI, how it helps us, and what it means for school and jobs. He invited me to his office in Palo Alto, CA and it was a great experience for me, let me tell you all about it!
First off, Luc Julia talked about how AI isn’t just one super-smart robot like in the movies. Instead, it’s more like a bunch of tools that help us do things better. He calls it "augmented intelligence" because it makes us smarter, not replaces us. Pretty cool, right?
He uses AI tools like ChatGPT and Le Chat (a French AI) for different things. ChatGPT is great for getting information, while Le Chat is awesome at making images. But here’s the catch: AI uses a lot of electricity and even water to run those big data centers. So, we have to think about how we use it wisely.
Now, let’s talk about school. Luc thinks AI can be a great tool for learning, but we shouldn’t believe everything it tells us. For example, if you ask an AI to write a biography of Victor Hugo, it might get some things wrong. So, we need to check the facts and use our brains to fix any mistakes. It’s like having a draft that we can improve.
What about coding? Luc says that even though AI can help write code, we still need real programmers. Machines can’t be as creative or solve problems like humans can. So, coding isn’t going away anytime soon!
He also talked about Apple and Siri. Did you know that Luc and his friend Adam Chayer came up with the idea for Siri way back in the 1990s? They wanted a smart search engine that you could talk to. Now, Siri is on our phones, helping us every day. Apple is even teaming up with OpenAI to make Siri smarter by learning from how we use it.
Luc also works with Renault, the car company. They use AI to make cars safer and more fun. For example, AI can predict when a car needs maintenance or help drivers avoid accidents. It can even entertain passengers with cool info and games.
In the end, Luc believes that AI is here to help us, not replace us. He’s excited about the future and how we can work together with AI to do amazing things. It’s like having a super-smart friend who’s always there to lend a hand.
So, that’s what I learned from Luc Julia. AI is pretty awesome, and it’s going to change a lot of things. But remember, we still need to use our brains and be creative. The future is going to be amazing!
